Council member Sidney Howell has been an avid supporter of the City of St. Marys and the Camden County community all his life. Council member Howell is proud that he was born and raised right here in St. Marys and has always had a special bond with “his hometown”. He is proud to state that he, his wife and daughter all attended St. Marys Elementary School. He is a graduate of Camden County High School and is proud to state that his daughter graduated from Camden County High School as well. Go Cats!

Council member Howell assisted his City and County in various ways throughout his career. He was the Shop Steward in Local Union 446, the Vending Committee President and was a licensed welder and fabricator with the TTX Railroad after closure at the mill. He coordinated procedure and training at Gilman Paper. Council member Howell has completed numerous training through Georgia Municipal Association as an elected official. This is Councilmember Howell’s second tenure as a St. Marys Council member.

He takes great pride in our City and our downtown waterfront. Looking back on his vision he had for the City, Council member Howell is proud he made the motion to purchase the McDonald property in order to create the beautiful waterfront park that everyone enjoys today.
